DTV
Shredder Head 18cc 28.5/24 Valves with 5.5mm Stems
Description
The component commonly referred to as the "Shredder Head” was designed and sand-cast by Lifan for the DTV Shredder Off-Road Vehicle equipped with a 212cc engine.
The cylinder head features a unique design that utilizes the bolt spacing of PZ-Style Carburetors, such as the knock-off Mikuni VM22, WC22, and many others, which have a 26-27mm carburetor bore and 48mm bolt spacing. The ports are also designed with a large 27mm round opening, in contrast to most other factory D-shape ports that measure around 22-23mm, which helps to enhance airflow. The port size and bolt spacing changes mean standard clone intake manifolds do not fit.
The head includes an 18cc combustion chamber, which raises the compression ratio of most factory engines. The shape of the combustion chamber is identical to that of the Honda UT1 18cc combustion chamber.
The heads will use the same valve train components as any other non-hemi head. The head will bolt onto any small block clone-based engine that uses 10mm cylinder head dowels. However, the exhaust bolt spacing is approximately 3mm wider than that of most factory-cast heads, which means you may need to modify your exhaust flange and gasket.
This is only the bare casting, valve train components are sold separately.
Shredder Head Features
28.5mm Intake Seat
24mm Exhaust Seat
5.5mm Valve Guides
18cc Combustion Chamber
48mm Intake Bolt Spacing
47.5mm Exhaust Bolt Spacing
The approximate Valve Spring Install Height is .850” using a 2.580” Length Valve and our Aluminum Single Spring Retainer, which makes the 272 single have 22lbs of seat pressure, and the 273 springs valve springs have 20lbs. Or with our Titanium Dual Spring Retainers, approximately .900” install height, which puts the DCS-OH-HD Dual Springs at 56.5lbs which allows up to .330 lift, or the DCSO-S Dual Springs with 35lbs, which allows .400 lift.
Valve Spring Install height will vary based on the valve length and retainers used.
We prefer to use dual valve springs with the Shredder head as it has spring pockets cut to allow more install height and wider springs. Ensure you use hard-welded cams and the valve spring pressure is appropriate for your valve lift and rpm range.
