Brake shoes fitted with brake linings (friction material) that press against the drums from the inside to generate braking force (decelerate and stop) are set inside of the drums. We have basically three types of go kart drums - leading/trailing shoe type, twin leading shoe type and duo-servo type. What you need depends on how the brake shoes are pressed onto the drums. Our top-selling item in the go kart drums category is the 4 in band brake and 4 in drum. The brake has one-piece bonded lining and the steel brake pin with cable hole is included. The brake band is of 4" diameter and the brake drum has two 2.875" bolt circles drilled into it. Similarly, there is also the 6 in internal expanding brake assembly, less the drum, that has a mounted hub, adjustable actuator arm, premium bonded linings, and machined braking surface.
